Go team!

I'm on team Lynn! Cool.

Today I did pretty good though I did have 2 cookies from Subway. I am debating weather I should join the wellness center gym. You see, I already have workout equipment in my garage, but I don't like it. I have a treadmill (old) and bike (old, loud, ugly) which are free. The gym however, will give me more motivation because I can see other people doing cardio, they have group fitness (such as: yoga, pilates, yoqi - ti chi & yoga, etc), cardio equipment (such as: elipticle, treadmills, starclimbers, row machine, bikes, etc) but it costs $52/month through payroll deduction (D's job) and it's kinda far from my house. So do I join and spend money or just bite the bullet and do cardio at home? I really want to join. ughhhh. but i know I shouldn't. : (

That's all for now, I'm sleepy....

Emily, this is just a little tough love coming straight at you from one Lynn member to another...just do it. Don't think too much, don't use all the excuses, just start moving. You say you have free equipment at home but aren't sure because this, that, and the other - so I gently suggest that instead of thinking about it any longer you just get on the equipment you do have and move. If you totally HATE it, it breaks down, etc - then you can move on to other options. Good luck getting active. And know that this post is for me as much as it is for you as I too am still ramping up to be more active and get a consistent work out plan going. I struggle with the whole "what should I do, when should I do it, where should I do it...blah blah blah."

We just have to GET MOVING. Move now think later. Good luck to you (and me!)

Mickie is so right. We can all make excuses for doing anything else but exercising. As Nike says, "Just do it".

My view is going to be a bit different than the others.

Try the home equipment, but do so with an open mind and without negative mind chatter about the condition of the equipment.

It is just me, but I think if you really can't or wont get your head around working out at home, you need to do something else, be it the gym, as expensive as I know it is. You need to find something you're comfortable with or you're not going to stick with it!

Much success to you and keep coming here for our support. The important thing is don't give up on yourself or the process.

Your motivation to work out and get healthy shouldn't come from your equipment or gym - it should come from YOU. I would give the home equipment a chance before shelling out cash for the gym. It's just my opinion, but I think people spend too much time "looking" for motivation and not enough time creating it.

Take care!

Personally, I never work out at home. I have DVDs and never use them. I have a stability ball that I got for Christmas and have only used it once. I love going to the gym! But for me, it's only a 10 min (or less) drive, so it's pretty good. I say try it at home for a month and if you find you aren't doing it, then suck it up and get a gym membership (if you think that would help).

I find personally that doing activities outside help motivate me.... running outside and now that it's winter, snowshoeing and skating. Switching it up makes it more interesting for me!

Good luck! go Team Lynn!

I say if you don't like your equipment or get annoyed when using it, you won't use it. As you said, there are a lot more options at the gym, but you have to commit to doing. Whatever you decide, just start moving! Good luck on your decision.
